Submission guidelines

If you've got something to say and a new way of saying it, we want to hear from you! It helps if you're familiar with what we do and the way we do it, so we'd obviously recommend that you buy one (or more) of our books first and tell us what you liked about it/them and, perhaps, why it/they suggested Dotterel Press as a potential publisher.

For fiction, first send us a brief (300 word) pitch that starts with a little bit about yourself, then gives us a real flavour of the book you've written and why you want Dotterel Press to publish it. Add the first three chapters; attach the whole thing as a single word document or PDF to a short covering email and send it to dotterelpress@gmail.com.

For non-fiction, again send us a pitch starting with a little bit about yourself and saying why you think we'd be a good fit for your book, but follow this with a chapter-by-chapter summary (c.300 words per chapter) so we can get a good idea of what it is you're writing. If we like that, we'll be in touch asking for some sample chapters to help us make a decision.

All our books are published first as Kindle eBooks, then as trade paperbacks. We haven't got the recources to spend time hawking our wares around bricks-and-mortar bookshops (although all our titles can be ordered in by libraries and bookstores) so we sell almost all our books online, either from our own website or on retail platforms like Amazon.
